Amazon had their “Prime Day” sale last week, and while this post is a little late in that regard, I’m hoping it can steer you in a different direction for the future, even if it’s just sometimes!

Myti.com was created in 2020 as a counter to Amazon and other e-commerce giants, and “every purchase on Myti supports local Vermont brands, stores, and communities,” even if not EVERY product of that particular store is made in Vermont. Myti started out small with just a handful of businesses, and at that time, they were only doing local deliveries out of the Burlington, VT, area. Nowadays, they ship at least nationwide, which is a great development! Currently over 40 stores on their site are local with 61 stores total, and they’re always looking to expand.
Bill Calfee is the original CEO of Myti, and was/is a serial entrepreneur who previously had a couple businesses in Vermont, which he ultimately sold. Before 2020, Bill lived mostly abroad with his family in the Bahamas, French Polynesia, and Maine. After moving back to Vermont, he made the decision to start Myti, after finding out that Vermonters were spending $450 million a year on Amazon, which was of course taking away from the Vermont economy.
Bill stepped into the Chief Visionary Officer role in August of 2024, allowing Becca Newton to take over as CEO, read in this blog here. In that blog, you can see that they’re growing at a rapid rate with other newish hires, which showcases their rapid expansion and success.

Currently, Myti offers free shipping for online orders over $99, and free shipping for orders over $150 for local deliveries. If you subscribe to their newsletter, your next order gets free shipping as well!
I will say that Vermont products always make great gifts, no matter the occasion. Please consider helping the Vermont economy by buying from a local supplier. Thank you!

Next week, I’ll be talking about my sister’s soup business, based out of Chester, VT!
